The complication shows old numbers
- Dials can only show what WHOOP already has. Open the WHOOP app on your iPhone so your WHOOP can upload its data.
- Open Dials on your Apple Watch. The app then loads new numbers right away.
- In the background, Dials loads new numbers about every 30 minutes, less often at night. watchOS decides the exact timing.
- On your iPhone, open the Watch app, go to General › Background App Refresh and check that Dials is turned on.
Reconnect
If Dials asks you to sign in again, open Dials on your iPhone and sign in to WHOOP again. Keep your Apple Watch nearby so the sign-in reaches it. This can happen if you removed access in the WHOOP app or WHOOP ended the sign-in.
Disconnect and delete data
Disconnect in Dials on your iPhone. Dials then deletes the sign-in and the stored numbers on your iPhone and Apple Watch. Deleting Dials removes the numbers as well. You can also remove access in the WHOOP app.
Set up your watch face
- On your watch, touch and hold the face, then tap Edit.
- Swipe left to Complications.
- Tap the large slot in the middle and choose Dials, then Overview.
- Tap the three slots at the bottom and choose HRV, Resting Heart Rate and Steps.
- Press the Digital Crown. Done.
You can also change complications in the Watch app on your iPhone under My Faces.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a WHOOP membership?
Yes. Dials reads your data from WHOOP. Without a membership and a WHOOP wearable there is nothing to show.
Which Apple Watch do I need?
Any Apple Watch with watchOS 26 or later. Modular Ultra and Wayfinder are on Apple Watch Ultra. Modular Duo, Infograph and the Smart Stack work on other models too.
How fresh are the numbers?
Dials shows what WHOOP already has. Your watch loads new numbers about every 30 minutes; watchOS decides the exact moment. Recovery and Sleep appear once WHOOP has scored your night. If something looks old, open the WHOOP app on your iPhone so your WHOOP can sync, then open Dials on your watch.
What does it cost?
Nothing. No ads, no in-app purchases, no subscription.
Is Dials made by WHOOP?
No. Dials is an independent app by Sergej Markwart. It uses the WHOOP API and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by WHOOP.
